Perception is Reality
photography
Cogito ergo sum; or, I think, therefore I am. According to Descartes' "Method of Doubt", sometimes referred to as "Cartesian Doubt", this is the first and only item of certain knowledge.
I appropriate Descartes' method, compress and distort it for a conceptual photography series. Utilising a double presentation of unique individuals I present a kind of dual reality for each person. For each face we see I suggest that we unconciously imagine a character(s). Viewers may find themselves unconciously "choosing" one of the dual realities presented as more "realistic" due to implicit biases.
